Insta-Revolution: How to Give Your Instagram Profile a Complete Makeover in 10 Minutes

Reading Time: 5 minutes

I've resurrected my personal Instagram profile after a hiatus since 2021, when the pressure of juggling everything personally and professionally became overwhelming, and I had to cut back. Now, I'm diving back in with a revitalized approach to not only remain visible but also strategically boost my business through thoughtful content. If you're curious about my journey or just want to connect, feel free to give me a follow!

I've come to realize the significant impact of staying top of mind within my network. I’ve said before that it takes about 50 interactions to stay top of mind in your speciality, whether that be through Facebook updates, photos, personal texts, or posts on platforms like Instagram or Facebook. While I value my privacy, I now see the importance of sharing more work-related content to maintain visibility.

UPDATING YOUR PROFILE TODAY

In refining my business strategy, I discovered the usefulness of incorporating SEO-friendly terms directly into the account name. This optimizes visibility without redundancy, as the account name usually mirrors the business name.

The bio description is crucial—it should distinctly outline what sets us apart and why you are different, better, and more special. Our focus? Producing unparalleled content that can’t be created on a guests’ smartphone.

Including a line about features, availability, or special offers is also key. For instance, we highlight our widespread availability across the United States and destinations in Mexico.

A clear call to action is essential. For us we have “Tap the link for more info” directing traffic to the website. However, depending on your volume and bandwidth, explicitly requesting, "🚫 No DMs, Please - Use Website for Quote," to streamline communication is not uncommon. If you’re horrible at responding, this is probably the best option because it sets the expectation to go to the website for a quote.

Utilizing tools like ManyChat, which offers both a free and a pro version at $15/month, helps manage interactions efficiently, ensuring someone is always available to respond.

Instagram's recent guidelines on hashtag use emphasize quality over quantity. The era of hashtag spamming is over; now, it's about selecting up to three precise hashtags per post to enhance relevance and engagement.

Looking ahead for the remainder of 2024, here is my strategy plan:

STRATEGY #1 - Providing value

I am dedicated to elevating the content we share with our followers by focusing on two main pillars: inspiration and education. At URBNevents, we're constantly involved in exciting projects that not only look spectacular but also push the envelope in the event industry. I want to share these inspiring stories to show what we're capable of and to spark creativity among our audience. Additionally, educational content is key. I believe in teaching our followers something new with each post, whether it's industry insights, planning tips, or innovative event solutions. Thus providing value!

Recognizing Instagram's power as a local search tool for those planning events and seeking vendors, I plan to enhance our network by tagging and promoting our collaborators more effectively. This approach not only increases our visibility but also supports and grows the community around us.

It's noteworthy that 40% of Gen Z prefers using social media over search engines like Google for daily decisions, such as choosing dining locations. This shift underscores the importance of our presence and activity on platforms like Instagram.

STRATEGY #2 - reels

A big priority for my instagram strategy is Reels. Reels account for 50% of time spent on the app. It’s going to take a minute, but ideally I would like to be posting three reels a week. This can be anything from an event highlight, to behind the scenes, or even your personal story as an entrepreneur.

Instagram also released guidance on word marks. Reels with word marks, regardless of the word mark, will be ranked lower. This includes wordmarks like the TikTok logo, as well as watermarks from video editing platforms like Capcut. So try not to use those and create things specifically for Instagram.

STRATEGY #3 - carousels

Carousels allow us to narrate more complete stories through a series of images in a single post, leading to higher engagement compared to regular posts. Using Canva, I'll design these Carousels to be visually appealing and cohesive, incorporating subtle design elements that enhance the narrative flow. These could be decorative transitions or small, engaging details that draw the viewer from one image to the next, making each post not just informative but also visually appealing.

Ultimately, everything circles back to my core mission—connecting with people and enriching their experience with valuable content. Whether through inspiring designs, educational content, or engaging formats like Reels and Carousels, every action is aimed at strengthening these connections and enhancing the impact of our brand. Happy Instagramming!
